Importance of Isra and Mi'raj
The Night of Isra and Mi'raj is one of the greatest nights in Islam, when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was taken from Makkah to Jerusalem and then ascended through the heavens. It reminds Muslims of the importance of prayer and the honour of the Prophet.
History of Isra and Mi'raj
The Isra and Mi'raj occurred before the Hijrah. The Prophet ﷺ was carried on Al-Buraq to Al-Aqsa Mosque, then ascended through the heavens where he met previous prophets and received the command of fifty daily prayers, later reduced to five.
Ways to Celebrate
Observe the night with prayer and dhikr, recite the Quran, share the story of Isra and Mi'raj with family and children, give charity, and optionally fast the following day (Sunnah).
